Why Family Values Matter

Posted: October 26, 2015 in Real Estate

It seems like everyone is busy these days. When you combine work and family and outside activities, it can be hard to slow down and pay attention to the little things in life like family values. Although family values may seem small, they can make a big difference in your family’s life. Michael Yanko knows that family values are important and in spite of his busy life, he always tries to spend time with his family and make those values known.

What Are Family Values?

Family values are the things your family finds important or believes in. For many families these things can be based around religion, politics, goals and traditions. Every family has their own set of values and show or practices them in different ways.

How to Practice Your Family Values

It’s easy to practice or express your family values. You may want to take a few hours a day to pray or meditate together, talk about your future plans or even discuss politics or upcoming special events. The best thing about family values is that your family can choose how you celebrate, remember, create and share them. There is no right or wrong way as long as everyone in the family is involved.

Creating and expressing your family values will make your family stronger and give you something to focus on when times are tough. If you don’t already have a clear list of family values, consider making one with your family members.

If you it has always been your dream to run a business but you still want to spend time with your family members, you may want to consider making your spouse your business partner. Being in business with your spouse can have many benefits but also many challenges. If you want your business and your relationship to be successful, these tips can help.

Keep Business Issues and Personal Issues Separate

It can be easy to let your business issues interfere with your personal life and vice versa. It is important to deal with personal issues at home and to keep your business issues at work. When these thing crossover they can cause both the relationship and the business to suffer. This can sometimes be difficult to do, but it is important.

Be Straightforward With Each Other

This is important for any relationship but also important for business relationships as well. Not dealing with problems as they rise and holding things in can just make things worse in the long run. Talk to your spouse and take care of things before they escalate.

Find a Balance Between the Two

Even though you and your spouse may be spending time together at work, it’s not the same as spending quality time together. Don’t skip out on having fun together outside of work and don’t be afraid to spend time apart with friends or other family members either.

Tips For Coaching Soccer

Posted: October 12, 2015 in Real Estate

Coaching soccer can be a rewarding experience and allow you to give back to your community. Michael Yanko knows how important it is to support youth programs and that is why he has proudly coached OMM soccer for over 10 years. If you are considering coaching a soccer team in your community or city, consider these tips to make it a positive experience for everyone.

Make It Fun

Whether you are teaching young kids or adults, the point in playing a sport is to have fun and enjoying yourself. Find a way to make your soccer practices fun. Get creative and think of new ways to teach certain skills and games that can also help players learn more about soccer.

Be Positive

Always stay positive for and about your team. Being a coach can sometimes be stressful, especially if you don’t win or your team doesn’t play to their full potential. It is important to stay positive and focus on the things your players did right. Offer constructive criticism to help your team.

Start With the Basics

No matter how experienced your team is, it is important to go back to the basics during your first few practices. Focusing on the basics will help you players develop core skills that will help them at all stages of soccer.

Encourage Each Player

Not all players will have the same skills or be good at the same things. Find what each player is good at and help him or her develop their skills. You may need to switch some players in and out of different positions to find what works best for the players and the team.

Coaching soccer is never easy but it is definitely worth the time. Nothing compares to watching your team succeed and each player grow into a better athlete.

Michael Yanko believes it is important to give back to the community whenever possible. One of his favorite charities is the Making Headway Foundation. The Making Headway Foundation is dedicated to helping the families of children who have been diagnosed with a brain or spinal cord tumor.

The Making Headway Foundation helps make children and their families comfortable during diagnosis and throughout treatment. Tumors can be painful, scary and difficult to face and treat, but the Making Headway Foundation offers support and care along the way so no family or child has to deal with a cancer diagnosis alone.

The Making Headway Foundation has also created a playroom at the NYU Langone.

Medical Center’s Hassenfeld Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in New York City, which allows sick children to forget about their illnesses for a short time and have fun. The foundation also donated crafts, toys, games and healthy snacks to the patients and their families.

Aside from helping patients and their families with the emotional aspects of a tumor diagnosis, the Making Headway Foundation also offers counseling, medical research, back to school help, ongoing care and scholarships. The Making Headway Foundation wants every child to have the best chance at recovery and helps every family struggling with a sick child. If you want to help children suffering from brain and spinal cord tumors, donate to the Making Headway Foundation today.

CEOs and their Job

Posted: September 2, 2015 in Real Estate

The Chief Executive Officer of any business, larger or small, is the man or woman at the top of the food chain. There are certain assignments that can only be carried out by the CEO and they carry a lot of the responsibility of the company on their backs. The CEO has the responsibility of making sure the business is still in business next year, and the year after that, and five years or more down the road.

It requires a high degree of calculated thinking to do the job right. One of the most important indicators for a CEO is the history of a business. If they have a strong background in business and have experience heading another company, this will reflect nicely on them. Things like past mistakes or failures are valuable indicators of the direction a business is headed in, and the CEO uses such history to his or her advantage.

In most cases there is no standardized list of responsibilities carried out by a CEO. In addition to charting the future of a company, common functions of a CEO include; supporting operations and administration of the Board, and advising and informing said members. A CEO is often the interface between the Board and the company staff. CEOs have a hand in much of the design, marketing and promotion of the company’s products or services, and will play a part in recommending the annual budget for Board approval.

Another function that CEOs often do is one of community and public relations, consistently presenting the organization with a strong and positive image to key stakeholders. They are the ones who make public announcements and other things to the press and the general public when something big happens. Michael Yanko is a co-owner and CEO of WY Management, a commercial real estate development company in New York. He has owned this company with his wife for a number of years now.

Coaching sports is a big responsibility, no matter what sport it is, or what the ages of the players is. Coaches have a lot more responsibility than getting their teams through practice sessions and managing them through their games. Good coaches are going to be inspiring role models for their players, especially young children. They should be able to communicate with the kids and their parents, with their assistant coaches, and provide their players with a safe environment. Those are just some of the baseline duties. Michael Yanko is a real estate development professional in New York who has coached soccer and basketball for ten years. He knows what kind of dedication it takes.

It’s important for young children to have an understanding of physical fitness, so that they are able to play sports at their best and at their safest. If they have a low athletic ability, learning about fitness can help them gain more. At that age, getting fit and healthy should be fun, and good coaches know that they can incorporate games into their training to help the kids develop fitness habits that will last for a lifetime. Sports are a great way of getting previously unfit kits, to a better fitness level.

Any sport contains an element of risk, and the possibility of injury. It is up to the coach to make sure that fields and playing surfaces are safe, and that the necessary equipment is available and in good working order. With children this is particularly a big deal as they are usually new to the game and are still learning. Players and their parents need to know that they are learning safe techniques, and also that should one of them get hurt there is a plan so that they will receive whatever attention is necessary. Every player on a team is an individual, and the actions of their coaches are going to influence them in one way or another. Coaches can instill values like caring, honesty, respect, and taking responsibility by demonstrating those traits themselves.
